Issue/Question:

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Finland has confirmed it is considering an application for NATO membership.

Suggested Response:

• Finland is one of NATO's closest partners, particularly in the areas of capability development and interoperability activities.
• We support the expansion of NATO, including the Alliance's Open Door Policy
• Per Article 10 of the Washington Treaty, NATO's door remains open to any European country in a position to undertake the commitments and obligations of membership, and contribute to security in the Euro-Atlantic area.
• All applications require unanimous approval/consensus among NATO Member States.
