The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Canada's Ambassador on February 28.

• Russia's foreign ministry called in Canada's ambassador to Russia on Monday to lodge a formal complaint about security concerns at Russian diplomatic premises in Canada.
• Russia threatened Canada with retaliation if it failed to ensure the safety of its diplomats and complained over what it said were hostile protests outside its embassy in Ottawa and two other consulates.
• Canada's HOM went to the meeting to discuss security at our respective missions. HOM assured the Russians that Canada takes its Vienna Convention obligations seriously, and provides security to foreign diplomatic premises in Canada on the basis of a threat assessment.
