Question Period Note: Civilian deaths in Chad anti-government protests.

On October 20, 2022, more than 50 people were killed, and hundreds more injured, during anti-government protests in Chad.

• Canada is saddened and shocked by the deaths of more than 50 people and by the hundreds injured during protests seen in Chad on October 20. Canada extends its condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy.
• Canada is very concerned about the lack of respect for fundamental human rights in Chad which is undermining the ongoing transition process.
• Canada reiterates our determination to support Chad in its process of political transition and continues to urge the government to implement an inclusive transition in order to continue to build a democratic and prosperous future for all Chadians.
