• Canada also does not invite Russian government officials, directly or implicitly through membership, to meetings and events in Canada that are not directly associated with a United Nations organization.
• Canada always acts in close coordination with allies such as the G7 and NATO countries, to obtain these objectives.
• Seeking the permanent expulsion of Russia from multilateral organization is usually not in Canada's interests. Preferred is holding Russia to account at the table, not having Russia operate outside of the rules-based order in disregard of the UN Charter.
• Canada does not attend multilateral meetings and events chaired, hosted or co-hosted by Russia, whether in Russia or outside Russia, unless it is for very specific reasons related to international peace and security, national security, or health and safety.
