Issue/Question:
Two Canadian citizens, John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, were held hostage and subsequently executed in the Philippines by terrorist group Abu Sayyaf in 2015-2016 after ransom demands were unmet.
Suggested Response:
• Six years ago, terrorists from Abu Sayyaf brutally murdered two Canadians that they had held hostage for months in the Philippines.
• This horrible act of violence caused unfathomable pain for all those close to Robert Hall and John Ridsdel, a loss which always affect the family and friends of these two men.
• The Government of Canada also mourns this loss and continues to seek justice for these senseless crimes.
