Suggested Response:

• The wharf in Percé was divested in 2020 and is no longer the property of the Government of Canada.
• However, DFO will be conducting dredging operations at the wharf this year
• My department is currently working on this project and dredging operations will begin once planning is complete and permits are in place.
• In the meantime, lobster harvesters will be using the harbour at l’Anse-à-Beaufil, located nearby.
Interim plans
• Until dredging operations take place at the wharf in Percé, fish harvesters will be using nearby harbours.

Background:

• The SCH in Percé was divested to the Province of Québec in August 2020 and thus, is no longer the property of the Government of Canada.
• Despite this, some fish harvesters continue to use the wharf, including lobster harvesters.
• DFO plans to carry out dredging operations at Percé as soon as planning is complete and necessary permits are in place.
