Issue/Question:
How will the Canadian Armed Forces support vaccine delivery under Op VECTOR?
Suggested Response:
- The Canadian Armed Forces continues to play a key role in the whole-of-government response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Currently our members are supporting the National Operations Center, and the Vaccine Rollout Action Team with logistical planning.
- Through Operation VECTOR, the Canadian Armed Forces would be able to support the government plan for vaccine distribution as required.
- The Defence Team will leverage the expertise and capabilities of its personnel and equipment, while working with partners to help distribute vaccines.
- The Canadian Armed Forces stands at the ready to provide support in areas where logistical service providers cannot or where Provinces and Territories request our assistance.
- National Defence’s support could include:
- Providing transportation to bring vaccines to Canada and distributing them domestically;
- Transporting medical equipment and health care professionals to remote communities;
- Providing warehousing, distribution, and immunization facilities with logistical staff.
- Through Operation LASER, the Canadian Armed Forces will continue to provide assistance to whole-of-government efforts to minimize the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
