Why are Canadian Armed Forces members sharing anti-vaccine rhetoric?
Suggested Response:
- The recent negative remarks regarding Op VECTOR made by a member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre participating in a public demonstration are not reflective of the views of the Government of Canada nor of the Canadian Armed Forces.
- We take any form of misconduct very seriously and are investigating this incident thoroughly to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- The Canadian Armed Forces continues to play a key role in the whole-of-government response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Our members stand ready, as required, to support the Government of Canada’s plan for vaccine distribution

- On December 5th, 2020, a member of the Cadet Instructor cadre in military uniform participated in an anti-lockdown, anti-vaccination demonstration in downtown Toronto. The event was filmed and posted online.
- The individual identified himself as being with the Cadet Program and encouraged Canadian Armed Forces members not to support vaccine distribution, calling its distribution an “unlawful order”.
