Suggested Response:

The mediation process is ongoing and talks are continuing. It is the responsibility of both parties to work together to reach an agreement.
Negotiated agreements are the best way forward.
Background:
Air Transat A.T. Inc. (hereafter the “employer”) provides domestic and international air carrier services. The airline offers scheduled and charter passenger flights within Canada and to more than 60 international destinations in 25 countries across the Americas and Europe.
Air Transat A.T. Inc. and the Air Line Pilots Association, International (hereafter the “union”) are negotiating the renewal of their collective agreement, which expired on April 30, 2025, covering 737 technical flight crew members classified as pilots, flight engineers and supervisors, excluding the vice-president technical operations, senior chief pilot, chief pilot and chief flight engineer.
On January 2, 2025, the union served the employer with a notice to bargain to commence negotiations. The parties held 45 days of meetings between January and September 2025 but were unable to reach an agreement. The parties have agreed that none of the services provided by the members of the bargaining unit are essential and that no agreement on the maintenance of activities is required.
On September 15, 2025, the union filed a notice of dispute with the Minister of Labour, and three conciliation officers were appointed on September 19, 2025. Twenty-two days of meetings with the conciliation officers took place during October and November 2025, but no agreement was reached.
The conciliation period ended on November 18, 2025, and three mediators were appointed the following day. Meetings with the parties took place on November 20, 24, 26-28 and 30. Additional sessions are scheduled from December 1 to 7, 2025.
On December 3, 2025, the union announced that its members voted 99% in favour of a strike mandate. No strike or lockout notice has been issued at this time. However, the parties will acquire the legal right to strike or lockout as of December 10, 2025, at 12:01 a.m.
