Suggested Response:
• The 2021-22 Supplementary Estimates (B) totals $21.86 million. This includes $16.23 million from Budget 2021, to support recovery by investing in key regional sectors such as tourism and aerospace, and community economic development where existing programs and regionally specific existing networks can be leveraged to help address the challenges of recovery.
• Support for business investments for jobs and growth will help strengthen Northern Ontario’s capacity to weather future downturns and reap the benefits of upswings.

Additional Information:
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $7.35 million from Budget 2021 to support businesses in Northern Ontario as catalysts for long-term growth and job creation.
• The Jobs and Growth in All Communities Fund also provides for an additional $178 thousand in program administration that will assist businesses and their regional ecosystems in recovering from the global pandemic by transitioning to a green economy.
• In addition, this fund will support scale-up and market expansion activities that often rely on a network of players in the ecosystem who are critical to sustainable economic development and diversification efforts.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $5.25 million to stimulate and diversify Canada's tourism offerings and experiences.
• The Tourism Relief Fund also provides for an additional $299 thousand in program administration that will empower tourism businesses to seize opportunities in the domestic market, while also preparing the sector to welcome back international tourists when demand returns.
• This funding will provide strategic investments in tourism experiences and destination planning, and offer liquidity support where other relief measures are insufficient due to the unique needs and structures of tourism businesses.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $2.79 million from Budget 2021 to address the needs of communities to recover from the pandemic, stimulate economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Northern Ontarians.
• Funding also provides an additional $219 thousand for program administration that with allow us to work effectively with urban, rural and remote communities and to seek their perspective on where recovery-related investments are most needed.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $2.79 million from Budget 2021 to address the needs of communities to recover from the pandemic, stimulate economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Northern Ontarians.
• Funding also provides an additional $219 thousand for program administration that with allow us to work effectively with urban, rural and remote communities and to seek their perspective on where recovery-related investments are most needed.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $675 thousand from Budget 2021 to support projects to maintain and improve global competitiveness by contributing to innovation and commercialization through the lengthy anticipated recovery of the sector.
• The funding also provides an additional $91 thousand in program administration which seeks to support the industry’s expected investments in environmentally sustainable aerospace technologies, to improve the environmental performance of aircrafts and to support compliance with new international standards.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes $170 thousand for the continued implementation of the Black Entrepreneurship Program.
• This funding will increase support to Black-led business organizations across Northern Ontario through mentorship, financial planning services, and business training.
• Supplementary Estimates (B) includes a re-profile of $4.84 million for the continued implementation of the Regional Air Transportation Initiative.
• This funding aims to ensure businesses and communities have reliable and affordable access to critical local airport and air carrier operations and services.
• In addition, this funding will help associated regional air sector ecosystems and businesses in the aerospace supply chain adapt to new realities in order to better serve the socio-economic needs of the regions.
