• Through the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) CanadaBuys Portal, the NRC posted an open call for proposals to procure furniture for the rooftop collaboration space at the facility.
• The competitive process selected the lowest evaluated price.

The advanced materials research facility in Mississauga aims to accelerate the development of advanced materials technologies and their commercialization in innovative new products.
Together with industry, academic, and other government department partners, the facility establishes and operates a national innovation platform, supporting and undertaking foundational research and development to develop new materials, scaling up their production, and de-risking and demonstrating their application.
Public Services and Procurement Canada oversaw the competitive selection process for and the design and construction of the rooftop collaboration space on behalf of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).
The NRC managed the open and transparent procurement of furniture for the 100-person outdoor collaboration space once construction was completed. The NRC’s response to this question pertains solely to the furniture acquired.
The outdoor space is used for collaboration. As an example, the NRC hosts meetings with industry to discuss research on the next generation of battery materials.
