Issue/Question:

The 2021-22 Departmental Results Report was tabled in Parliament on December 2, 2022.

Suggested Response:

  • The 2021-22 Departmental Results Report highlights Infrastructure Canada’s (INFC) achievements in support of key infrastructure projects that address climate change, fuel economic growth, and improve quality of life for all people in Canada.

  • In 2021-22, Infrastructure Canada invested $9 billion in communities across the country.

  • The Department continued to make investments in transit to support communities in building the infrastructure Canadians need.
    o These investments have helped communities expand their fleets and increased the share of low emission buses by more than one-third between 2019 and 2021.

  • Since 2018, nearly 3,000 newly built and renovated cultural, recreational, and sports infrastructure facilities are providing opportunities for Canadians to come together.

  • INFC has also continued to make investments to support water and wastewater investments, which are critical to the quality of life of Canadians.
    o According to Statistics Canada, the annual rate of construction of water pipes increased by 47% compared to the previous decade.
