Suggested Response:
• Energy efficiency is the fastest and most inexpensive way to help build Canada’s energy future, while meeting climate change commitments.
o That is why Budget 2019 committed over $1 billion in new funding for energy efficiency that will create jobs and make energy more affordable for Canadians.
o Energy efficiency employs more than 436,000 people across the country, with projected growth of over 8% in 2019.
o Canadians saved $45B in 2016 as a result of energy efficiency measures put in place since 1990.
• We will continue to work with provinces and territories to advance energy efficiency and meet emission-reduction targets, supported by federal investments in infrastructure, clean technologies, skills development and training.
• [We have committed to do even more to make homes and buildings greener through support for retrofits, free energy audits for interested homeowners and landlords, support for the purchase of zero-emissions homes, ENERGY STAR certification for new home appliances and skills training for workers.]
