• The federal-provincial/territorial Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan (CMMP) is an ambitious framework to boost Canadian competitiveness in a low-carbon, digital economy.
• The CMMP was released in Spring 2019 and includes six strategic directions involving governments, industry, Indigenous peoples, and non-governmental organizations across Canada:
o Economic Development and Competitiveness;
o Advancing the Participation of Indigenous Peoples;
o The Environment;
o Science, Technology and Innovation;
o Communities; and
o Global Leadership.
• We continue to collaborate with partners and stakeholders across Canada on a CMMP Action Plan, for release in 2020, to build on our strengths and realize global opportunities for Canadian firms.
• The result will be an innovative, low footprint, highly competitive industry that is central to Canada’s socio-economic success.
