Issue/Question:

On October 9, 2024, the Commissioner of Official Languages released his supplementary report entitled A shared future: A closer look at our official language minority communities. This report was anticipated and set out in the 2023-2024 Annual Report tabled in May 2024.

Suggested Response:

Our government is always attentive to the Commissioner's observations and recommendations. We welcome his supplementary report 2023-2024.

For the first year of the Action Plan for Official Languages 2023-2028, we have disbursed a total of $745 million, including $200 million in new funding.

We are currently developing an enhanced accountability framework for our Action Plan 2023-2028, that will reflect the modernized Act, guide annual reporting and we will make it available to all Canadians soon.
