Budget 2024, announced on April 16, 2024, includes nearly $68 million in new investments in official languages over a period of up to five years, including $26 million to implement the Substantive Equality of Canada's Official Languages Act.

Suggested Response:

Budget 2024 reflects our government's ongoing commitment to protecting official language minority communities and promoting official languages.

To implement the modernized Act, Budget 2024 provides $26 million over five years for the implementation of the Act for the Substantive Equality of Canada's Official Languages, and $9.6 million to increase the number of translated federal court decisions.

This funding is in addition to our historic $4.1 billion investment in the Official Languages Action Plan 2023-2028.
