The mandate of Raymond Théberge, Canada's Commissioner for Official Languages, will end on December 31, 2024. He has held this position since 2018, and his seven-year mandate aims to promote linguistic duality and defend the linguistic rights of Canadians.

Suggested Response:

Mr Théberge has been a strong and vocal advocate for the vitality and development of English-speaking and French-speaking minority communities.

He has always promoted the importance of linguistic duality as a fundamental Canadian value to foster an inclusive dialogue across the country.

He provided important contributions to the modernization of the Official Languages Act and was at the forefront defending language rights during the COVID-19 pandemic.
