King Charles III acceded to the Throne on September 8, 2022. National, provincial, and local celebrations were held to mark the King’s coronation on May 6, 2023, and new royal emblems and symbols were introduced to mark the transition of the Crown in Canada.

Background:

His Majesty King Charles III acceded the Throne and became Sovereign and Head of State of Canada on September 8, 2022, upon the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
