Suggested Response:

Canadians expect sound management of public funds. Since Option Canada, we have put in place mechanisms to meet these expectations.

Background:

On September 12, 2023, in a press release, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec declared himself at an "impasse". He requested a meeting with elected officials to discuss issues of concern, including the possibility of him being sued. He notes that an analysis of the documents "confirms" that the concerns expressed by Me Grenier in 2006 - that the disclosure of certain information "would be likely to cause prejudice to certain persons" - are "still valid", "despite the time that has elapsed since then".
