2022-23 Public Accounts

Suggested Response:

Canadian Heritage’s 2022-23 Public Accounts were prepared in accordance with the Receiver General’s procedures.

Background:

The department’s total authorities used increased from the previous year’s total by $294.1 million (15%). This increase in spending is largely due to additional funding received to support the Arts, Culture, Sport, Official Languages and Heritage sectors in efforts deployed to recover and re-open after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a one-time Ex-gratia payment to pay tribute to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
