  • The 2022-2023 Main Estimates for Prairies Economic Development Canada, or PrairiesCan, were tabled today.
  • PrairiesCan’s total budgetary authorities for 2022-2023 are $423.5M.
  • A stronger Canada needs a stronger Prairies region. That’s why economic development for the Prairies continues to be a priority for this government.
  • PrairiesCan is continuing to deliver programs that help companies, not-for-profits, and communities recover and grow from the economic impact of the pandemic. This includes measures introduced through Budget 2021 such as:
    • Jobs and Growth Fund;
    • Canada Community Revitalization Fund; and
    • Tourism Relief Fund.

* PrairiesCan’s total budgetary authorities for 2022-2023 have decreased by $117.6M from the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
* Most of this decrease is because of pandemic relief programs that are no longer needed as our focus shifts to supporting longer-term economic recovery.
