Suggested Response:

  • The 2022-2023 Departmental Plan for Prairies Economic Development Canada, or PrairiesCan, was tabled today. This is PrairiesCan’s first departmental plan.
  • As laid out in this plan, PrairiesCan will focus on three priorities:
    • Recovery, including support for sectors hardest hit by the pandemic;
    • Growth and transformation, including building new sources of value in emerging sectors like clean technology; and
    • Inclusivity, including promoting economic inclusion of Indigenous peoples, black Canadians, women, and youth.
  • PrairiesCan is also focused on enhancing its presence in the region by opening seven new service locations.
