The Government of Canada has accepted the 2020 chairmanship of the Digital Nations
Suggested Response:
• In a digital world, Canada is committed to international cooperation to maximize the design and delivery of public services.
• Canada is playing a leading role internationally, recognized by the 2020 chairmanship of the Digital Nations, an important international forum dedicated to making progress on digital government.
• Through this forum, we are collaborating with other leading digital governments on common challenges, sharing best practices on the development and delivery of digital services, and supporting Canada’s digital economy.
Background:
• The Digital Nations are a collaborative network for leading digital government, providing a forum for Chief Information Officers who desire to seek tangible outcomes, try new approaches, and build information working relationships between countries.
• The Digital Nations formally changed its name from the Digital 9 (D9), with the addition of Denmark in 2019. The other Digital Nations are: Estonia, Israel, New Zealand, South Korea, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Mexico and Portugal.
• At the November 2019 Digital Nations Summit in Uruguay, Canada formally accepted the 2020 chairmanship of the Digital Nations.
• Canada is looking to deepen its international collaboration on digital through its engagement with the Digital Nations.
