As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Farm Products Council of Canada for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

The FPCC is an active participant in ensuring that all Canadians benefit from the marketing, promotion and research of agricultural products. It is also known for its leardership in maintaining and promoting efficient and competitive agricultural industries.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Travel Public Servants - Explanation of Significant Variance: Compared to fiscal year 2015-2016, there was a slight decrease in FPCC travel expenditures by public servants, which is primarily the result of decrease in travelling.

Travel Non-Public Servants - Explanation of Significant Variance: Compared to fiscal year 2015-2016, there was a decrease in travel expenditures for non public servants, which is primarily the result of decrease in travelling for the 2016-2017 reporting period.


Hospitality:

Hospitality - Explanation of Significant Variance: Compared to fiscal year 2015-2016, FPCC hospitality expenditures continued to decrease as a result of its continuous effort to promote a cost-conscious culture within the organization at all levels.
