The National Battlefields Commission 2025 - 2026

As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for The National Battlefields Commission for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

NBC’s travel, hospitality and conference expenditures support the delivery of the following core programs and services to Canadians: Conservation: Ensure the conservation and protection of the natural, cultural and heritage assets of the National Battlefields Park through the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and infrastructure. Ensure safe public access to the Park. Promotion of Heritage: Showcase the history of the National Battlefields Park and enable the discovery of its heritage and natural resources by organizing, through the visitor centre of the Plains of Abraham Museum, exhibitions, educational and recreational activities, and guided tours.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

The decrease is attributable to guest travels in 2025 for the unveiling of two Indigenous public works of art on the Plains of Abraham site


Hospitality:

The decrease is attributable to an event organized in 2025 for the unveiling of two Indigenous public works of art on the Plains of Abraham site.

Conference fees:

Conference fees went up because attendance at networking events was higher than last year.
