As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026.
Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.
Mandate:
Expenditures on travel, hospitality and conference fees incurred by federal departments and agencies are related to activities that support a departmental or agency mandate and the government’s priorities. In particular, for OCL, the mandate is stated in the Lobbying Act and covers three areas of activity: maintaining and enhancing the Registry of Lobbyists; developing and offering education and information resources to expand awareness and understanding of the lobbying framework and compliance obligations; and conducting compliance work that supports respect of the Lobbying Act and the Lobbyists’ Code of Conduct.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year
Total travel:
Compared with fiscal year 2024-25, OCL's travel expenditures for key stakeholders increased mainly due to the fact that the Lobbyists Registrars and Commissioners Network was hosted in New-Brunswick in 2025-26.
Hospitality:
The Office's hospitality expenditures decreased from 2024-25 as the OCL did not host the Lobbyists Registrars and Commissioners Network in 2025-26.
Conference fees:
Compared with fiscal year 2024-25, conference fees increased mainly due to the fact that the Lobbyists Registrars and Commissioners Network was hosted in New-Brunswick in 2025-26.Minister and minister’s exempt staff - International travel:
