Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Compared to fiscal year 2022-23, travel expenditures increased mainly due to the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions. This allowed for a greater number of trips deemed essential to fulfilling the OIC’s mandate. By enabling in-person interactions with stakeholders, the OIC improved operational efficiency and responsiveness, thereby strengthening public trust in access to information systems and enhancing government transparency.

Hospitality:

Compared to fiscal year 2022-23, hospitality expenditures increased mainly due to the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions. This led to an increase in physical presence meetings.

Conference fees:

Compared to fiscal year 2022-23, conference expenditures increased mainly due to increase in costs to attend per participant.
