As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Privy Council Office for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

Privy Council Office supports the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, portfolio ministers, Cabinet and Cabinet Committees in advancing Government priorities, through providing non-partisan advice on matters of national and international importance, ensuring that the Cabinet decision-making process runs smoothly and helping implement the Government’s agenda, by fostering an effective and innovative Public Service.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Compared to fiscal year 2020-21, departmental travel increased by $1.31 million. The increase is primarily attributed to easing of COVID-19 restrictions and public health measures allowing for more in-person meetings.


Hospitality:

Compared to fiscal year 2020-21, departmental hospitality expenditures increased by $70,000. The increase is primarily attributed to easing of COVID-19 restrictions and public health measures allowing for more in-person meetings
