Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year
Total travel:
Compared to fiscal year 2022-23, departmental travel expenditures increased by $667,000. The increase is primarily attributed to more in-person meetings and engagements with stakeholders.
Hospitality:
Compared to fiscal year 2022-23, departmental hospitality expenditures decreased by more than $317,000. The primary driver of this variance is the close out of the operations and activities related to the Joint Public Inquiry into the Nova Scotia April 2020 Tragedy and the Public Inquiry into the 2022 Public Order Emergency.
