Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Travel expenses, compared with fiscal year 2018-19, decreased mainly due to the updating of the department’s travel guidelines, the use of quarterly travel planning and encouraging the use of video and teleconferencing. Additionally, the CGC noticed a minimal reduction of travel in the last period of the fiscal year due to the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic. This effect will continue and have a greater impact into the 2020-21 fiscal year.
