Canada Revenue Agency 2015 - 2016

As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Canada Revenue Agency for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2016.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

The mandate of the CRA is to administer and enforce tax legislation as well as other related legislation. It collects tax revenues, administers tax legislation and delivers social benefit programs on behalf of the federal government and other organizations such as provincial governments. In delivering its mandate, the CRA operates under eight programs. Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Public Servants: 31913 Compared to fiscal year 2014-2015, there was a slight increase in CRA travel expenditures by public servants, which is primarily the result of an increase in travel expenses related to the CRA’s core mandate.; Non-Public Servants: 173

Hospitality:

Compared to fiscal year 2014-2015, CRA hospitality expenditures continued to decrease as a result of its continuous effort to promote a cost-conscious culture within the organization at all levels.

Conference fees:

Compared to fiscal year 2014-2015, CRA conference expenditures continued to decrease as a result of its continuous effort to promote a cost-conscious culture within the organization at all levels.
