Canada Revenue Agency 2016 - 2017

As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Canada Revenue Agency for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

The mandate of the CRA is to administer and enforce tax legislation as well as other related legislation. It collects tax revenues, administers tax legislation and delivers social benefit programs on behalf of the federal government and other organizations such as provincial governments. In delivering its mandate, the CRA operates under eight programs. Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Public Servants: 32997 In 2016-2017, the CRA slightly increased its workforce as well as operational activities, key stakeholders relations and training requirements to implement the new initiatives announced in Budget 2016 which resulted in increased travel expenditures.; Non-Public Servants: 237 In 2016-2017, the CRA slightly increased its operational activities, key stakeholders relations and training requirements to implement the new initiatives announced in Budget 2016 which resulted in increased travel expenditures.
