Canada Revenue Agency 2022 - 2023

As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Canada Revenue Agency for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

The mandate of the CRA is to support the administration and enforcement of tax legislation and other related legislation. It administers revenues and tax legislation and delivers social benefit programs on behalf of the federal government and other organizations such as provincial governments. In delivering its mandate, the CRA operates under four core responsibilities. Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

In 2022-2023, the CRA’s travel expenditures increased due to the resumption of business travel following a reduction of COVID-19 restrictions towards the end of the fiscal year. Travel expenditures still remained low in 2022-2023 compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Hospitality:

Hospitality expenditures have increased minimally as a result of reduced COVID‑19 pandemic restrictions and the return of participation to events in person.

Conference fees:

Conference expenditures have increased minimally as a result of reduced COVID‑19 pandemic restrictions and the return of participation to events in person.
