Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

As a federal Crown corporation with clients and partners across the country, including more than 100,000 customers most of whom are located in rural areas of Canada, it is both appropriate and necessary for FCC to travel nationally to meet with producers, agribusinesses, key stakeholders, and employees where they operate. We ensure all travel is justified, cost-effective and consistent with FCC's mandate to serve Canadian agriculture and food. In 2025–26, travel expenditures increased as FCC expanded its support for customers and the agriculture industry, while remaining below approved Corporate Plan spending levels.

Hospitality:

Hospitality activities occur to enable meaningful engagement with customers, industry partners, government representatives, employees, and other stakeholders, and are focused on strengthening relationships, delivering FCC programs and services, and advancing the growth and resiliency of Canadian agriculture and agri-food. The spend has remained consistent year over year, with no notable variance to highlight.
