Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Compared with fiscal year 2022–2023, departmental travel expenditures have increased by $240 thousand. This increase is mainly attributed to the resumption of activities as a result of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, such as travel related to in-person training and conferences as well as engagement efforts with key stakeholders. In light of the Refocussing Government Spending initiative, LAC’s travel expenditures remain under pre-pandemic levels.
