As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Office of the Taxpayers' Ombudsperson for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023.
Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.
Mandate:
The mandate of the OTO is to assist, advise, and inform the Minister of National Revenue about any matter relating to services provided to taxpayers by the Canada Revenue Agency in order to support the government’s priorities of maintaining stronger democratic institutions, increased transparency and, the fair treatment of taxpayers.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year
Total travel:
In 2022-2023, the OTO’s travel expenditures increased due to resumption of business travel following a reduction of COVID-19 restrictions towards the end of the fiscal year.
