Travel to Toronto: Bilateral meeting and working lunch with HE Salman Khurshid, Foreign Minister of India; community and business roundtable with the Canada-India Business Council, Minister Khurshid, Canadian Ministers, and over 200 invitees including Members of Parliament. Travel to New York for the 68th United Nations General Assembly to give Canada’s Address to the United Nations General Assembly. Received the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award in recognition of Canada’s principled foreign policy. Conducted individual bilateral meetings with the President of Mongolia, Prime Minister of Israel, Prime Minister of Haiti, the Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Peru, Bulgaria, Korea, Libya, Ireland, Finland, Egypt. Met with Ministers Swire and Burt of the United Kingdom. Hosted working lunch with the six Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Secretary General of the GCC, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates). Attended event hosted by the International Peace Institute. Attended and spoke at side event on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict co-hosted by UK Foreign Secretary William Hague and UN SRSG Zainab Bangura. Attended AdHoc Liaison Committee Meeting. Co-hosted and spoke along with the Netherlands and Ghana Canada’s signature event on Early and Forced Marriage – Empowering Girls as Leaders of Tomorrow. Attended and spoke at Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting. Attended and spoke at working lunch on religious freedom hosted by Baroness Warsi of the United Kingdom. Attended and spoke at Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group Meeting. Spoke at UN Watch 20th Anniversary event.
