Purpose:
Special Envoy Dion will take part in the 75th Council of Europe Ministerial, to be held in Strasbourg on May 16-17, 2024. The Council of Europe is an international organization of 46 European states, of which Canada has observer status. Its mission is to promote democracy and protect human rights and the rule of law in Europe. Participation in this event will provide opportunities for high-level meetings, mainly at ministerial level. Special Envoy Dion will also be invited to make a statement at the Committee of Ministers' session.
