Purpose:
The Deputy Head of Mission was originally scheduled to undertake a comprehensive outreach program in Toronto on May 25-26 that included delivering a keynote address at the C.D. Howe Institute, participating in a roundtable discussion at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, and meeting with a number of key stakeholders.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the majority of the planned program was canceled. One stakeholder engagement - a dinner with Tim Snyder - was rescheduled to June 13, 2026. To support this remaining engagement, the Deputy Head of Mission stayed overnight in a hotel in the Toronto region before driving back to Washington, D.C.
Although the broader outreach program did not proceed as planned, the remaining engagement provided an opportunity to maintain dialogue
