On April 14, 2025, the Neskantaga First Nation declared a state of emergency due to flooding and the discovery of a strong fuel smell at the nursing station on April 13. The Associate Deputy Minister, regional operations Assistant Deputy Minister and Jennifer Wheatley will travel to hold discussions with Chief and Council further to the evacuation and tour the nursing station.
