Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

JPN MNE 2 – FVS II - Fusion Vision System Generation II
1022235
As part of the international consortium project “FVS II”, this project will focus on the development of the Fusion Vision System (FVS), a durable augmented reality platform engineered for the firefighting profession. This system contains many functions such as thermal imaging, enhanced visibility features, live video streaming capabilities, and integrated sensor technology. The FVS is designed with the North American market in mind.
This project aims to enhance the overall software usability, with a particular emphasis on refining the UI elements for better alignment with Japanese user preferences. Additionally, this revision seeks to improve the hardware design, broadening its functional versatility for users, including full AR helmet integration, and a full-seal design for better performance in the extreme temperature environments.

Novel Supplementary Cementitious Materials from Concrete Waste - Phase 2
1019502
At Phase 1 of the project, the possibility of converting recycled concrete remains obtained from Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) and Returned Concrete (RC) leavings from ready mix concrete trucks into reactive Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) using proposed by the firm's method of mechanochemical activation (MCA) technology was confirmed.
While the process was not optimized because of short duration of Phase 1, the positive results suggested use of such method for processing other than recycled concrete inert minerals, and particularly proposed a local solution to a pressing problem of converting GTA Georgian Bay Shale (GBS) bedrock excavation and tunneling waste into reactive SCM that can be further used in concrete production.
