Assessment and planning for personnel, equipment and infrastructure needs. Development of internal policies, practices, standards and discipline.

The effectiveness of the strategy developed, and the promising practices piloted by selected agencies of the shelter system will be carefully documented through ongoing internal and external evaluation.

The 12-month extension and the second tranche of additional funding will allow the organization to build a culture of solidarity and mutual support among its members in order to strengthen the democratic practices, representativeness and legitimacy of the council, and to reinforce the cohesion of their working team as well as its internal skills.

This will be achieved by assessing and increasing internal capacity to support Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ community members; developing an inclusive framework to ensure that 2SLGBTQQIA+ roles and responsibilities are restored and honoured; ensuring the development of resources and supporting the delivery of training to members of Friendship Centres across the province on 2SLGBTQQIA+ inclusivity; developing a framework to implement the MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ National Action Plan across Friendship Centres; and promoting the findings of the project to GBV and Indigenous community agencies and policymakers.

Aligned with Call to Justice 5.5 of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the initiative will examine international innovations from Australia, the UK, and Kenya, as well as domestic practices involving ongoing self-collection methods.
