Longan Vision Corp., a Canadian ISO 9001-certified developer of wearable thermal imaging systems, is undertaking a defence readiness initiative to strengthen its ability to support non-combat humanitarian and safety-focused defence operations.

The purpose of this CanExport Innovation agreement is to support Canadian organizations to carry out activities related to pursuing opportunities that would lead to establishing new collaborative Research and Development (R&D) partnerships between the Recipient and foreign organizations in order to support R&D on the Recipient’s technology and advance its commercialization.

As part of the international consortium project “FVS II”, this project will focus on the development of the Fusion Vision System (FVS), a durable augmented reality platform engineered for the firefighting profession. This system contains many functions such as thermal imaging, enhanced visibility features, live video streaming capabilities, and integrated sensor technology. The FVS is designed with the North American market in mind.

This project aims to enhance the overall software usability, with a particular emphasis on refining the UI elements for better alignment with Japanese user preferences. Additionally, this revision seeks to improve the hardware design, broadening its functional versatility for users, including full AR helmet integration, and a full-seal design for better performance in the extreme temperature environments.

The Longan Vision’s Fusion Vision System has reached the final steps of the first-generation development. Longan Vision is building a new Production Engineering Team that will work with Longan Vision’s R&D department to plan, develop and test a production system and ensure production capacity meets all future market demands.

International Co-Innovation Action Plan (ICAP) project: Longan Vision is a developer and manufacturer of enhanced vision and communication devices for first responders and military personnel in fire situations.

We are looking to identify co-innovation partners who are involved with First Responders and have IOT technology and that are interested in the Japanese market. We need to test, validate and certify the technology for use in Japan.

The Longan Fusion Vision System must stay operational under a harsh firefighting environment by providing a stable Augmented Reality (AR) display for an enhanced thermal image. The housing of the FVS must protect the vital mechanical structure, electronic processing component and battery to ensure the system is extremely durable. This project will focus on material selection and design testing, including impact test, corrosion test and heat and flame test for the housing.

Longan Vision is currently developing Fusion Vision System (FVS) – an Augmented Reality(AR) smart helmet visor and Command Terminal (CT) designed to assist firefighters with personal vision enhancements (thermal imaging), all-in-one communication and a myriad of different sensors to provide an enhanced vision and communication system which can be integrated into current firefighter gear to achieve heads up and hands-free ability. This project will allow Longan to hire a recent graduate to help develop the next generation FVS.
