Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

CatalystNEXT: Pathways to Better Jobs for Canada's Immigrant Women in STEM
WP230454
Through this 31-month systemic change project, TechGirls Canada (TGC) will scale the Catalyst project to advance highly skilled immigrant women's economic security and prosperity by mitigating barriers to their recruitment, retention and advancement in the STEM sector. The project will be scaled out in new urban and rural regions across the country, collaborating with new employers in the STEM industry and building partnership between them and immigrant serving agencies (ISAs). To do so, TGC will develop CatalystNEXT, a career advancement training program that will connect ISAs to regional STEM employers, equip employers with accessibility to immigrant women's job applications and online career portfolios, and empower STEM employers with effective practices for hiring them. TGC will also develop a sustainable collaboration model.
With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the TGC team will promote systemic change via the CatalystNEXT Job Readiness Program to equip STEM-trained immigrant women+ with a job search method that is strategic and responsive to current job market trends for mid-career and expands their options to advance into leadership roles. Through CatalystNEXT Job Pathways Program, TGC will train employers and immigrant settlement agencies to use skills-based hiring and connect immigrant women+ directly with recruiters and hiring employers alongside industry information to increase their chances of securing a good, well-paying job in Canada’s priority sectors of: technology, energy, utilities, transportation and logistics. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.

Prosperity Project Phase II: Accelerating Economic Recovery of Immigrant Women in Canada's COVID-Sensitive STEM Sectors
NA21699
This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. TechGirls Canada will achieve this by designing and implementing policies and practices to increase women’s labour market participation and opportunities, engaging women and/or girls with lived experience to influence pandemic recovery responses, and building relationships between equality seeking organizations and other stakeholders to collaborate across sectors to advance gender equality. TechGirls will also design and implement policies and practices to increase women’s leadership in democratic, civic, public or private sectors.
At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change to support women’s equality.
