National Action Plan on Open Government Commitment

TBS is developing a draft open data maturity model for the Government of Canada, which is currently undergoing consultation with the Open Data Advisory Group. The intent of the maturity model is to support departments in enhancing open data practices. This document will provide clear instructions, criteria for assessing maturity, best practices, tools, and benchmarks. It will also guide departments in tracking progress and aligning their open data strategies with government-wide goals for transparency, accessibility, and innovation.

The open data maturity model is on track for completion by 2025. While the work is still in progress, significant strides have been made in shaping the model to align with industry best practices and standards.

A maturity model is being developed to help departments align their open data practices with best practices and standards, ultimately leading to more robust and impactful open data programs. Consultations on the open data maturity model will take place next quarter.
