As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by a federal department or agency relate to activities that support the department or agency’s mandate and the government’s priorities.

Mandate:

Expenditures on travel, hospitality and conference fees incurred by federal departments and agencies are related to activities that support a departmental or agency mandate and the government’s priorities. Particularly ACOA in it contribution to help communities and develop the local economy.

Explanation of significant variances compared with previous fiscal year

Total travel:

Compared with fiscal year 2021-2022, agency travel increased drastically. This is due to the easing of travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hospitality:

Compared with fiscal year 2021-2022, the Agency hospitality increased. This is due to the easing of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Conference fees:

Compared with fiscal year 2021-2022, the Agency’s conference fees increased slightly. This is due to the easing of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister and minister’s exempt staff - International travel:

There was no international travel expenditures by the minister and his staff for both fiscal years.
