Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

GV230327
Through this 30-month project, the Kaleo Collective (KC) aims to expand the reach of the Single Mom Resource Course (SMRC) to strengthen of the GBV sector. This project will address the ongoing challenges faced by single mothers, including the challenges associated with all types of violence, emotional and financial poverty. Through this initiative, single mothers will acquire the tools to address their own trauma, establish healthy relationship patterns, develop problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, boost self-esteem, and enhance their sense of self-worth, all of which will contribute to improved family communication and overall health of the family unit.
To achieve these goals, the project will involve the establishment and reinforcement of partnerships to support program delivery, as well as a review and update of existing policies and training frameworks in collaboration with partners. This collaborative effort will engage, empower single mothers, equipping them with essential skills and resilience, while helping them recognize their potential through this program. KC will also carry out surveys and debriefing sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of their program delivery. The Nova Scotia 2SLGBTQIA+ Health Project
SO230203
Through this 30-month project, the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia (ACNS) will build stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. ACNS will address increasing its own 2SLGBTQI+ capacity generally, but especially queer women’s communities not traditionally served, and transgender communities for whom they recently began developing targeted programming. It will address intersectionality regarding cultural competency and safety for ACNS to be better able to serve Indigenous, racialized, and new immigrant, and disabled individuals and community members.
The project will include a provincial 2SLGBTQIA+ Health and Healthcare Access Needs Survey, designed to clarify existing patterns and challenges to inform future programs and initiatives, the development of capacity and resources for a future 2SLGBTQIA+ Cultural Competency Training Program for healthcare workers, the strengthening of IT technical expertise to better utilize web and social resources, and the building of a robust fund development capacity to support future work.
