This project aims to continue to increase awareness and public trust in the agriculture sector and bridge the urban/rural divide providing learning opportunities on how food gets from farm to table. The project will deliver educational information at a national agricultural fair, and showcase the importance of Canadian and Indigenous agriculture.

This project aims to support educational programming at the CNE Farm during the 2026 and 2027 seasons of the Canadian National Exhibition.

This project aims to identify the performance criteria currently being used by management advisors across Canada. This first step will require the administration of surveys in different provinces. The second step will be to assess the discrepancies between current approaches, based mainly on productivity criteria, and the recommendations arising from the first phase of the project, namely, the use of economic efficiency criteria.

Through an online learning platform, mobile app, and hands-on practicums, the program teaches sustainable crop and livestock production, business skills, and food sovereignty practices, blending traditional African and Caribbean farming with Canadian methods to foster leadership, equity, and economic opportunity.

This project aims to support and empower women farmers in Quebec and French‑speaking Canada to develop their entrepreneurial and leadership capacities, while raising the profile of the farming profession for women—particularly in light of 2026, which the United Nations has designated as the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Access to knowledge and training is a key barrier to entering farming. Young Agrarians “Conditions for Growth” project addresses this gap with on-farm training and online education to provide entry-level skill-building and knowledge transfer opportunities for new farmers and under-represented and marginalized groups.

During the 2025 season, a previously undescribed issue appeared in the strawberry crop as a sticky, honey-like residue that rapidly spread and later caused fermented exudate on harvested fruit. Diagnostic tests identified the organism as Zymobacter palmae, raising concerns for future seasons. Though yield was unaffected, the residue created handling difficulties. Plants were moved indoors for winter study, and environmental data will be monitored to understand the bacterium. More research and added labor are needed to find a method for suppression or control for next seasons.
